Ny teknologi fra TI: Darkchip 4 og 3D DLP!

Today, at the CEDIA Expo, Texas Instruments (TI) unveiled two DLP technologies that will certainly revolutionize HDTV.

First, the company introduced a new DLP chipset called DarkChip 4, which will be available in a number of DLP HDTVs and projectors in 2008. This new chip features the levels of high brightness and contrast picture quality seen on digital cinema , of which DLP Cinema is the founder and uncontested world leader.

At CEDIA (booth #620) DLP is showing multiple demonstrations, of the capabilities of the new chipset innovation. The DLP DarkChip 4 Theater features a 3 chip, 1080p DLP projector featuring the new chipset producing trillions of colors combined with a native contrast ratio of 15,000:1. Additionally, there is a demonstration of a DLP HDTV with DarkChip 4 and LED illumination with a native contrast performance beyond 100,000 to 1.

In addition to the DarkChip 4, Texas Instruments is showcasing high definition 3-D DLP technology at CEDIA. HDTVs with 3-D capabilities are especially desirable for video gaming, immersive action scenes, and watching fast-action sports.

There are already two DLP HDTV lineups in the market that 3D enabled. First, Samsung has four lines of DLP HDTVs that are 3D ready. You can view them here. Mitsubishi also has some Diamond Series DLPs that are 3D ready.

Setting up a DLP HDTV for 3-D viewing is quick and easy and only requires four steps:

• Connect your 3-D DLP® HDTV – offered by either Mitsubishi or Samsung – to a compatible 3-D source
• Plug the transmitter into the HDTV VESA sync port
• Place the DLP HDTV into 3-D mode
• Put on your active 3-D glasses
